Songs: The Sequel

I have a very eclectic taste in music, and it's constantly changing. Which means that I'm always adding music to my repertoire. So, since my taste has been ever-changing, I'm making another list of my new set of favorite songs!

Oh gosh, it's really hard to figure out which one to start with.

And, since it's the time of year, I thought this song would be appropriate too.
Also, because it fits, here's another one I like.

Something that's been on my mind.

Sometimes you can hurt someone not only by what you say, but also what you don't say.

You may think that girl is beautiful, and that she knows it so why should you tell her? She hears it all the time. She wouldn't pay any attention to it. But maybe she actually never gets told that except by her closest friends if even, and because of that, she doesn't think she really is pretty. Maybe by telling her that, it will make her day. Maybe she won't cry herself to sleep tonight because "no one thinks she's pretty".

Let's say this boy has a wonderful voice and loves to sing. But maybe he's super shy and doesn't like to sing in front of people, or at least, that how he was a few years ago. Maybe now he's come out of his shell a little and would love to sing for people once in awhile if someone asks, but he's too modest to suggest it. So now he's left thinking that people don't actually like his voice. So when you ask that other guy to sing all the time, but never ask him, he feels like no one likes his voice, and he's not good. So now he's left thinking he should give up on his dream to be a professional singer because he'd never make it.

So I ask you to not avoid saying anything, but to actually have the guts to go up to someone and compliment them on something. Even if you don't really know them. Especially if you don't really know them.

Top 15 Musicals You Have to See

I love musicals. How could you not? I love music and I love movies, so it's like the best of both worlds. I've made a list of 15 musical movies I think you have to see. I don't like all of them, but I still think the ones I don't like are mandatory. So here you go! 15 musicals (not including Disney movies) in no particular order. Also, I know there are a bunch of musicals on Broadway that I personally enjoy, BUT NO ONE HAS MADE THEM INTO MOVIES YET!!! (*ahem* Wicked *cough cough*)

15. Les Miserables
I'm sure you've heard of this one, and I know it's long, but it's like a classic! This one even has all the best actors/actresses in it too!

14. Cats
This one is a little iffy man. I personally don't like it, but I still think it's fundamental in your musical watching experience. It's based off of a book of cat poems by T. S. Elliot. I just think it's a little weird to have a bunch of grown people dressed, and slinking around like cats.

13. West Side Story
Ok. This one is a good one except for the fact my two favorite guys die, and my favorite girl turned into a jerk which lead to the other semi-important guy to die. But the music is good, and you know... the plot is okay. Except I already knew pretty much that people were going to die because it is based off of Romeo and Juliet.

12. Fiddler on the Roof
This is another long one, but when I watched it, I had heard more of the songs than I thought. My dad always sings 'Tradition', and who knows how I knew the other ones.

11. Grease
I don't even know if this one needs an explanation. It's so well known. If you have never heard of it then you deserve to have to look it up on your own.

10. Wizard of Oz
Again, if you've never heard of this one... but hey. Just follow the yellow brick road to Wikipedia. (also my brain is getting tired of trying to think of something fun and creative for these)

9. Oklahoma
Oklahoma is a state! Goodness brush up on your geography.

8. Phantom of the Opera
Wow. Eight more to go. Well, someone dies in this movie too, but you should know the Phantom really isn't that bad of a guy. He let Christine be with the one she loved. And he gave her flowers.

7. Annie (Personally, I like the original, but the new one is good too. Just look at her hair! Cute!)
She's so cute and adorable and goodness. I have to confess that when I was little, I wanted to be Annie. Not like the orphanage, and Miss Hannigan, but like her life after when Grace and Daddy Warbucks keep her.

6. Music Man (again, I like the original one, but why not both right?)
I was in this musical when I was little. I even had a solo!!! I sang "I got a box of maple candy on my birthday". Road to stardom right there.

5. Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9xbqzyqPeDw

I couldn't get the video to show up, but if you click on it, yes, that is Donny Osmond. But this is for everyone. If you like Elvis, there's a song for you. If you like country, there's a song for you. If you like French music, there's a song for you. And yes, even if you like Jamacain music, there's a song for you too.
4. Sound of Music
I grew up with this musical! Julie Andrews is the best thing ever! Also if you actually haven't watched it... dishonor on your whole family, dishonor on you, dishonor on your cow (ten points to the person who know's what that's from). Also, we will be having a Sound of Music party whenever you so choose. Bring whoever has not seen it because this movie needs to be seen!!! (forget the part where I dishonored you, your whole family, and your cow...)

3. My Fair Lady
Audrey Hepburn. Just like Julie Andrews. Well maybe not quite as good. But this musical... quite 'loverly'.

2. Singing in the Rain
This is probably in my top 3 list of musicals at number 2. It's funny. It's sweet. It's romantic at times. Quite the package.

1. Newsies
I seriously don't know how to describe this. Beautiful. Just beautiful. Number 1 movie musical! It has Christian Bale (Batman for those of you who aren't fluid in movie trivia or anything at all). Like I seriously don't think I need anymore words for this. Christian Bale.

There you go. Top 15 musicals you have to see.

But I'm not done!

Here are two more Musicals that you have to see, however one is Disney, and one is a Christmas movie. They obviously could not make it on the list.

Marry Poppins

My childhood all wrapped up into one beautiful movie. I would sit on the couch with my blanket and teddy bear... or teddy lamb I suppose... and watch this all day.

White Christmas

Definitely on the list of Christmas must sees. Along with Polar Express and It's a wonderful life. Those, however, are not musicals. (In retrospect, you could consider Polar express a musical, because it has a lot of music, but that's like calling any Disney princess movie a musical.)

Did you think I was done? Ha! Nope.

I dearly love this one even though I don't think it's a necessity to watch if you want the list of must-sees, but when you're done with those, this should be on the next list.

Seven Brides for Seven Brothers

I wish I could dance like the brothers at the barn-raising.

So I suppose that really is a list of 18 musicals to see, but 15 rounds out better.

I Wish I Could Think of a Good Title For Once

I wish I could write an advice blog. That would be cool.

Unfortunately I am just Hannah. Not a cool advice giver or anything.

Actually I wish I could have a cool blog period.

But nothing exciting happens.

I washed the car today!

Oi.

 I'll write a poem.

Naomi's on Facebook,
Roses are Peach,
This poem is backward,
The plot's out of reach.

Thank you!

Songs

I love music. A lot. These are some of the songs I've been enjoying. They are very varied (haha see what I did there?)

Okay, anyways, enough bad jokes Hannah, on to the list of songs!

I think that's a pretty good list for now. I will probably have more sometime soon. I haven't listed all of my favorite songs anyways. :)

Saturday, March 2, 2013

Well who's idea was it anyways to make a blog? Stupid people.

Oh yeah. It was mine...

Well, I don't really have much to write. I have absolutely no idea why I started a blog. I hate writing and nothing exciting ever happens. But I did paint a picture!

Ta-da!

So yeah. I'm pretty proud of it. Even though it didn't turn out like I wanted it to, it still looks pretty epic I think.

Pizza Cutters are Dangerous

So yesterday, my friend and I were hanging out before going to the symphony. We were home by ourselves, so when a noise came from upstairs, we were kind of on edge. At first I thought it might be the house settling. It is an old house. But my friend heard it too, and it happened like 3 times. Then her little dog looked at the stairs, like she was looking upstairs. Now we were scared. My friend went to go get an iron bar and then we went into the kitchen for a knife to go investigate. There were no big knives, so we looked in the drawer to see what was in there. We searched and I saw a pizza cutter so I was like "Pizza cutter!" only she had the same idea so we both shouted pizza cutter together. We both started laughing, because both of us thought of the same thing, and I was laughing also because I mean, seriously, who hurts someone with a pizza cutter? Anyways, after our little laughing bit, even though we could have died, we went upstairs, and saw what was going on. It was her dog, Riley, walking around.

Also, the symphony was really nice. One of my best friends was in it, and the conductor was pretty much stereotypical. He looked like a conductor. Kinda crazy boyish looking. I expected him to have an accent. Nope. He also kind of reminded me of the mad hatter. I think though if I were to have a conductor, I would want him. He looked like he was having fun up there, and I wouldn't want a conductor that was bored or boring. But yeah. I would definitely go again. My friend got bored though, so I wouldn't go with her... she doesn't know what she's missing.

Yup! Those were my adventures of the night. Pretty interesting life I'd say. :)
